The Meat Foundation is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the meat industry through research, education, and scholarships. The Foundation is at the forefront of identifying strategies to produce safer and more sustainable meat and poultry products. Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Fundraising Consultant to lead the development and execution of fundraising initiatives that support our research programs and strategic priorities. This high-impact role will focus on grant acquisition, corporate sponsorship development, donor cultivation, foundation outreach, and innovative campaign strategies.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and persuasive communicator who thrives on building relationships, telling stories of impact, and delivering measurable fundraising results.

This is a flexible, contract-based role that offers an opportunity to work alongside respected industry leaders while directly contributing to research, education, and sustainability programs that influence the global food system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Donor Strategy & Campaign Development
    • Design and execute targeted fundraising campaigns.
    • Analyze donor and funding trends to identify growth opportunities.
    • Develop donor communications and stewardship strategies to foster long-term relationships and repeat giving.
  • Corporate Fundraising
    • Build and maintain relationships with companies in the meat, food, and agriculture industries.
    • Develop and pitch corporate sponsorship packages aligned with research themes and impact goals.
    • Cultivate workplace campaigns and employee giving opportunities.
  • Collaborative Development Planning
    • Collaborate with the Foundation President and Board to align fundraising activities with organizational priorities.
    • Contribute to the development of a long-term fundraising and sustainability plan.
    • Maintain accurate records of outreach, gifts, and reports.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven track record (3–5+ years) of successful fundraising , preferably in science, agriculture, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Experience cultivating relationships and working with corporate sponsors , especially in industries related to meat, agriculture, or food technology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex research topics to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with donor management systems (CRM) and fundraising tools.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of the meat industry, food systems, or agricultural research is strongly preferred .

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Existing network of contacts in the food, meat, or ag-tech industries.
  • Experience in nonprofit development, scientific communication, or public-private partnerships.
  • Background in agricultural sciences, food science, business development, or a related field.

Compensation:

This is a contract position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and may be structured as a monthly retainer or milestone-based payment. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
