• Pay Rate: $23.25 an hour while in school and training.

Essential Job Functions

As a Truck Driver Trainee, you’ll work closely with a Driver Trainer to master the following skills:

• Maneuvering the tractor to attach trailers and secure them properly.
• Operating the truck safely in compliance with all regulations and company policies.
• Inspecting tractor-trailer equipment for defects before and after trips.
• Using the Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to document deliveries and product conditions.
• Riding along with your Driver Trainer to learn commercial driving regulations and techniques.
• Maintaining driver logs according to DOT regulations.
• Assisting in unloading trailers and delivering products to customer locations.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Must obtain CDLA Permit prior to entering CDLA class.
• Complete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less.
• Willingness to handle all products ordered by McLane customers.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, and bending.
• Strong communication skills to interact with customers and teammates.
• Safe driving skills and familiarity with equipment like 2-wheeled dollies and ramps.

Working Conditions

Your work environment will include:

• Distribution centers, transportation departments, and customer facilities.
• Moderate noise, vehicle vibrations, and varying weather conditions.
• Regular travel, including overnight trips.
