Description Our manufacturing client in San Leandro is seeking an interim Senior Cost Accountant for a leave coverage. This contract position offers an opportunity to collaborate closely with operations and supply chain teams, providing strategic financial insight and support. The ideal candidate will excel in cost accounting, variance analysis, and financial reporting, and will be adept at driving process improvements and cost savings initiatives. Excellent Excel skills are required. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days in-office in San Leandro. The expected pay is $65-$70/hr. Responsibilities: - Partner with operations teams to manage budget submissions, monthly close processes, and year-end accounting activities - Collaborate with production personnel to gather accurate data and establish standard routings for manufacturing - Enhance and create financial reporting tools using SAP S/4HANA, BI, and Evolve systems - Reconcile and close work orders weekly across multiple business units - Present production consumption variances and monthly variance summaries to operations leadership - Support the development and analysis of Cost of Goods Sold and maintain monthly variance reports - Drive cost-saving initiatives within supply chain and operations while providing actionable analytics for decision-making - Perform month-end close processes efficiently, including detailed analysis of purchase price variances, labor variances, and stock adjustments - Develop accurate product costing for new and existing products, ensuring profitability through supply chain efficiencies - Collaborate cross-functionally to manage inventory processes, identify gaps, and forecast future expenses and absorption rates Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting or related roles - Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA and advanced Microsoft Excel skills - Solid understanding of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and product costing methodologies - Expertise in variance analysis, forecasting, and month-end close processes - Familiarity with KPI reporting and financial analytics within manufacturing environments - Strong ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, supply chain, and finance leadership - Knowledge of inventory management processes and supply chain cost components - Background in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) is highly preferred Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
