Job Description:

As a Senior in the Exempt Organizations (EO) Tax Services practice at Crowe LLP, you will play an essential leadership role within our specialized national team dedicated to addressing the unique needs of tax-exempt clients. Our collaborative EO team combines extensive sector knowledge with tax expertise to provide tailored solutions that enable organizations to meet their compliance and strategic objectives.

In this role, you will significantly contribute to client engagements through the preparation and review of information returns (Forms 990, 990-T, 990-PF) and offer support on technical matters such as unrelated business income (UBI), public support testing, and federal, foreign, and state reporting. This position will allow you to develop specialized knowledge, strengthen client relationships, and cultivate leadership within a dynamic and growing practice area. You will work closely with managers and partners while also guiding and developing junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Technical Delivery

  • Prepare and review federal and state tax filings for exempt organizations, including Forms 990, 990-T, 990-PF, and related schedules.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving issues related to UBI, compensation reporting, governance disclosures, and public support calculations.
  • Conduct research and apply pertinent IRS regulations and case law to client situations.
  • Keep current on tax issues and industry trends affecting exempt organizations.

Engagement Management

  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while adhering to internal and external deadlines.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams and client contacts to gather necessary data and ensure seamless delivery.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and documentation requirements.

Team Collaboration

  • Foster the development and coaching of interns and staff through hands-on training and constructive feedback.
  • Actively promote a team-oriented culture that values learning, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Engage in internal learning programs and contribute to the creation of team tools and best practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Possess a CPA/JD license or be actively pursuing CPA designation.
  • 3+ years of relevant tax experience, particularly with tax-exempt clients or nonprofit organizations.
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of Form 990, 990-T, and 990-PF, along with related exempt organization tax issues.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication abilities.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with tax compliance software like CCH, 990 Tracker, or similar platforms.
  • Exposure or understanding of Alteryx.

Compensation for this role ranges from $62,500.00 to $141,000.00 per year, based on various factors, including skills, experience, certifications, and organizational needs. We strive to offer competitive salaries and invest in our employees' potential.
