Job Opportunity: Sexual Assault Response Advocate

Todays top secret/SCI position requires a polygraph and is located in Fort Meade, MD (On-site/office).

Duties:

  • Apply basic strategies for skilled communication, including rapport and actively listening, to provide initial victim advocacy services and crisis intervention support for adult victims of sexual assault.
  • Perform a series of complex assessments using trauma-informed approaches for all reports of adult sexual assault.
  • Inform victims of the resources available to report instances of sexual assault related retaliation, reprisal, ostracism, maltreatment, sexual harassment, or to request a transfer.
  • Employ complex trauma-informed practices to provide tailored emotional support, ensuring victims feel respected, heard, and understood.
  • Facilitate the planning, scheduling, and delivery of sexual assault and prevention training for stakeholders and local populations.

Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must obtain and maintain an active D-SAACP certification in accordance with the Section 584 of Public Law 112-81 and DoD instruction (DoDI) 6495.03 as a condition of employment, and any subsequent policy updates applicable to this program.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • A Counterintelligence Polygraph is required, and a non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Must be able to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and holidays, in an on-call or rotational basis. The on-call or rotational status required varied work hours which include a requirement to be available 24/7.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a state issued driver's license to transport themselves locally for response to victim reports.
  • Occasional travel outside the local area may be required, up to 25% for meetings, training, or other program related events, or needs.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications: Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. This position is within the Work Category Professional at Work Level Full performance, Series and Grade GG-0101-11.

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Providing sexual assault advocacy services; developing and implementing crisis plan of actions and sexual assault assistance plans; assisting with developing and coordinating command SAPR prevention and awareness campaigns or events.

Basic Requirements:

  • Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
  • Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
  • Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Additional information: This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.
