Program Chair for Audio (Audio Engineer) Department: Audio Location: North Miami Beach, FL The Program Chair reports directly to the Campus Director and administers the designated program on a practical day-to-day and strategic long-term basis. All aspects of the program’s operation and success fall under the Program Chair’s purview, including oversight of program faculty, technology, facilities, resources, retention, student outcomes, and student satisfaction. Faculty Program Chair for Audio Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with the Campus Director to ensure that management of the assigned program is fully aligned with institutional and program goals, strategic direction, priorities, policies, and regulatory requirements. Continually enhance program curricula and instructional delivery by monitoring and reviewing academic performance, student outcomes, and Program Advisory Committee recommendations within the guidelines established by the DASS office. Maintain the highest standards for learning and teaching, develop and communicate clear expectations, and provide consistent educational support to meet students’ needs and ensure success. Recruit, train, and supervise program faculty and provide support, guidance, evaluation, and coaching to continually improve performance. Ensure that program academic objectives are consistently met. Teach courses as assigned and according to policy and fill in for other instructors as necessary. Participate in the development of class schedules and determine program teaching and classroom assignments. Establish and maintain positive relationships with the creative media industry and academic community. Support, monitor, evaluate, and refine the educational process to ensure optimal delivery of approved program curricula and ensure that all program faculty follow the Student-Centered Active Education model in all classes. Remain current with technology, industry trends, and educational practices. Participate in orientation, re-enter orientation, open houses, graduation, and other events. Coordinate and evaluate academic advising and support for program students, identifying and providing additional help and guidance for high-risk students. Identify and implement strategies to improve program student retention. Implement approved standard curriculum in all program courses. Identify needed resources, recommend additions to the school’s holdings, and ensure academic integration with the Learning Resource center. Oversee inventory of program resources and distribution of supplies. Advise students regarding academic program, industry expectations, and employment preparation. Perform other duties as assigned. Program chair for Audio Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience A Master’s degree or higher is required for schools offering an associate’s or bachelor’s degree; a bachelor’s degree is required for schools offering a diploma program. Exceptional professional experience may be considered in lieu of minimum degree requirements with approval from the Chief Academic and Compliance Officer. Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred A minimum of five years of related professional industry experience A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher and/or academic administrator. Expert knowledge of subject matter taught in program area Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to foster a cooperative atmosphere in a diverse community Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, time management, and critical thinking skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines Ability to work independently/without constant supervision and to follow instructions. Knowledge of common office software (Google Suite and Microsoft Office) with the ability to complete administrative functions in a timely and accurate manner Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system Familiarity with the Anthology student information system Advanced skills in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel Experience with managing employees Ability to speak and write Spanish and English Physical Requirements Hours are Monday to Friday, with some nights and weekends (Graduations, Student Events, Open House, etc.). Additionally, two weekday evenings are required until 7:00 pm. Schedule to be approved by Campus Director and Dean of Education and Career Services. Sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the organization, minimal reaching for items above and below desk level.
