Job Description
We are seeking a reliable Independent Contractor (1099) with Box Truck driving skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and customer service. As a Box Truck Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the flow of operations.
**PLEASE READ**
This is an Independent Contractor position (1099). The ideal candidate will be open and willing to travel between Illinois and Wisconsin (up to 200 miles one-way) freely, without any reservations. He/she will arrive ON TIME for scheduled shifts. Additionally, he/she will have wide open availability during the training period.
Responsibilities:
Operate and drive 26ft box trucks.
Use a pallet jack to load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules while considering traffic conditions.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle maintenance, and hours of service.
Communicate with dispatchers regarding delivery status and any issues encountered on the road.
Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during transportation.
Skills:
Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid driver's license.
Familiarity with moving and courier services is a plus.
Strong organizational skills for managing delivery schedules and paperwork.
Capability to use a pallet jack to move pallets of freight into/out of the truck.
Experience in warehouse operations is beneficial.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients.
A commitment to safety practices while driving and handling cargo.
Experience with driving 26ft box trucks preferred.
**Experience with delivering for Amazon Relay a strong plus**
