Description


Under immediate supervision, performs routine grounds and tree maintenance work; does related work as required.

Examples of Duties

• Under direct supervision of the tree trimmer or crew leader, assists with tree pruning and tree removals.
• Operates wood chipper, chainsaw, and related tree work equipment.
• Helps set up traffic control measures.
• Assists with tree planting and watering.
• Helps with stump grinding; assists with safely lowering limbs and wood when cut from tree.
• Uses rake and blower to clean up work site.
• Prune and sprout small trees. May also include other duties as specified by supervisor.

Typical Qualifications


Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of the eleventh grade and considerable experience in tree and ground maintenance work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General knowledge of the methods and practces of tree pruning and removals; general knowledge of tree work equipment; general knowledge of the mehtods and practices of basic grounds maintenance; ability to follow instructions and to satisfactorily complete assigned tasks in a timely manner; ability to work long hours under sometimes adverse weather conditions; ability to be "on-call" after hours when needed.
