JOB DESCRIPTION This posting is to pre-hire, certify, and train nurses who are interested in working within and around Newark public schools, so you are ready on standby the moment an opportunity presents itself! Candidates who complete onboarding earliest will receive first consideration for these positions!.
Where needs are expected: Public school districts in Newark and potentially other nearby areas.
When and how many needs to expect: The need for hired and cleared nurses in the school setting is an ongoing effort, and openings can come at any given moment; however, we typically see spikes mid to late August-September (school start-up) and again around December-January during longer school breaks or transitional periods. Role focus (once assignments open):
- Pediatric school nursing: 1:1 student care and/or health suites
- Common care needs: med administration, seizure precautions, G-/MIC-KEY-tubes, trach care, diabetes management, catheterization
- Collaboration with school teams and Ro Health clinical support; follow dynamic care plans to support student access during the school day

QUALIFICATIONS Schedule We are mainly seeking providers interested in full-time work; however, those interested in Part-time or PRN are still encouraged to apply!
- PRN availability: at least 2-3 weekdays (Mon-Fri) between 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
- Start date: ASAP for onboarding; deployment begins once orders are received and assignment details are solidified and agreed upon by all involved parties
- Typical onboarding timeline (varies): ~1-2 weeks.
- PRN may start upon hire; PT/FT start at the next available school start date or immediately upon a posted vacancy; on standby.
Commute Reliable transportation within Newark and the surrounding areas.
Skills & Experience - Safe medication administration and care-plan documentation
- Comfort with: Seizure precautions, G-/MIC-KEY-tubes, tracheostomy care, diabetes management, straight/Foley catheterization
- All topics are reviewed in mandatory training led by the RoHealth Clinical Supervisor regardless of prior experience.
Minimum Requirements - New Jersey State or Multi-State LPN/RN nursing license (active, unencumbered)
- Current CPR/BLS
- Current negative TB
Physical Requirements - Prolonged standing; repositioning; ambulation support
- Lifting up to 60 lbs
- Working around young children (play, standing, sitting); assisting with daily routines
