About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Fundraising to join their early-stage nonprofit organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for spearheading the development and implementation of a strategic fundraising operation, with a focus on cultivating and stewarding high-value donors to secure significant contributions. This role demands an entrepreneurial spirit, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a commitment to maximizing both financial and relational outcomes. The Head of Fundraising will be tasked with building a small team and a comprehensive fundraising program from the ground up, with the goal of achieving annual targets. Key responsibilities include designing a compelling case for support, re-energizing the donor community, and creating engaging donor experiences through storytelling and events. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' of experience in development and major gifts fundraising, a proven track record of closing six and seven-figure gifts, and leadership experience in the nonprofit sector. The Head of Fundraising will work closely with the Executive Director and the Board, and must be adept at leading discussions with high-level stakeholders. A deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape, best practices in donor cultivation, and prospect research is essential. The role requires a candidate with outstanding communication skills, proficiency in fundraising strategy, and the ability to adapt and scale up teams and systems for optimal performance. The Head of Fundraising will also be responsible for budget oversight, and must be committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within all fundraising activities. The ideal candidate will have a flexible approach to work, including the willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
