This position is tailored for those with a current CDLA License, even if you have little to no experience. As a Driver Trainee, you will:

• Average First-Year Pay: $85,000 - $100,000

Essential Job Functions

As a Driver Trainee, you will train alongside a Driver Trainer to develop the skills necessary for success. Your responsibilities will include:

• Maneuvering the tractor to attach trailers and secure them.
• Operating the truck safely in compliance with all regulations and company policies.
• Inspecting tractor-trailer equipment for defects and submitting DOT inspection reports.
• Using the Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to document deliveries and product conditions.
• Riding with a Driver Trainer to learn commercial driving regulations and techniques.
• Maintaining driver logs according to DOT regulations.
• Assisting in unloading trailers and delivering products to customer premises.
• Providing excellent customer service through on-time deliveries and handling product returns.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should meet the following minimum requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Eligibility under the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Willingness to load/unload and deliver all products ordered by McLane customers.
• Ability to read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Basic math skills for verifying product quantities.
• Strong communication skills with customers and teammates.
• Safe driving skills with a tractor-trailer and familiarity with onboard devices.

Working Conditions

As part of our team, you will experience:

• A dynamic environment encompassing distribution centers, transportation departments, and customer facilities.
• Moderate noise, vehicle vibrations, and varying weather conditions.
• Regular travel, including overnight trips.
